Last week, there was an opposition motion brought forward by Conservative MP Pat Kelly that will help small businesses across Canada as we continue to navigate the pandemic.

Thankfully, the motion was adopted despite the Liberals – including our Guelph MP – voting AGAINST it.

The motion focused on the devastating consequences that the pandemic has had on Canadian workers and businesses, and called on the government to:

  1. Pause the audits of small businesses that received the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy until at least June 2021; and
  2. Provide additional flexibility in the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy, the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy, and other support programs.

Actions speak louder than words. Empty platitudes will not help our small businesses survive the economically crippling pandemic.

Thankfully, the Conservatives are fighting for small businesses with real, tangible actions.

Even if the Liberals fight against them.
