Over Family Day weekend, it seems Trudeau’s political family continues to collapse. With the latest resignation coming from his close personal friend and long-time political advisor, Gerald Butts.

Above all else, the resignation of Butts will surely muddy the waters on the SNC-Lavalin scandal even further. The sudden resignation is the clearest indication yet that there is much more to the SNC-Lavalin Affair than the Prime Minister has so far admitted. And for that, we should not stop fighting this.

We’re in the midst of another example of our privileged PM – who hides behind others while the walls collapse. It is now more important than ever that Mr. Trudeau waive solicitor-client privilege so that Jody Wilson-Raybould can tell her side of the story. Accepting Butts’ resignation does not, in any way, settle this matter. In fact, it leaves more questions unanswered.

As this government continues to collapse and jump scandal-to-scandal, our Prime Minister remains preoccupied with keeping the truth hidden, rather than making life better for Canadians.

So much for transparency and sunny ways.

Conservatives will continue to push for a thorough and public investigation. Why? Because we – Canadians – deserve real answers.
