The Conservative Leadership Election will officially kick off at the Party Convention in Vancouver on May 26, 2016.  Michael Chong, MP – Wellington-Halton Hills, was asked last November if he would consider a bid for leadership.  He made no direct commitment at that time.  However, his recent appearance at the 2016 Manning Conference suggests he is testing the waters.

Michael Chong has been a neighbouring MP, a strong conservative voice in our region, and a great friend and supporter of the Guelph riding since 2004.   He is a politician with an unfettered reputation for integrity and for taking clear stands on issues.  The Guelph EDA offers our full support and encouragement for Michael to run for leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada.
